The Habs Unite and Call Ups!

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Carey Price with the MohawkIt looks like the Habs are uniting with some Playoff Mohawks, and some, like Price, are even sporting a nice playoff beard. It seems that everyone except for Kovalev, Hamrlik, Streit, and possibly Sergei haven’t done the deed, but Sergei hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Alright, so now the Habs have shown a little bit of unity, is anyone going to join them? I’m seriously considering doing it, but am having a hard time letting go of my hair. What do you guys think?

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, and something that Gainey promised to us well before the playoffs. Now that the Bulldogs are out of the playoffs Gainey has called up a third goaltender in Yann Danis, as well as Pavel Valentenko, Matt D’Agostini, Duncan Milroy, Kyle Chipchura, and Corey Locke. These are definitely the plays I would want enjoying the playoff atmosphere in Montreal.

D’Agostini Back to Hamilton

Friday, April 4th, 2008

One day after his NHL debut, D’Agostini is heading back to Hamilton, and will rejoin the Bulldogs tomorrow. He may not have had any points but his display of obvious skill and improvement far outweighs anything he could have done. D’Agostini will most likely find a permanent position in the Montreal Canadiens next season.

With Dags heading back down to Hamilton you really have to wonder who will be with the Habs during the playoff. Carbonneau said that he was going to call up 1 forward, 1 defense, and 1 goalie to be with the Habs this season. My only guess as to who this might be is Chipchura, as he’s already played a few games with the Habs this year, and really deserves to enjoy this with the rest of the team.

In the meantime it seems that Greg Stewart will get a game in as well as he takes D’Agostini’s spot when the team plays the Toronto Maple Leafs for the final game of the season.

D’Agostini and Stewart Called Up

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Montreal CanadiensAs per the official Montreal Canadiens site, Matt D’Agostini and Gregory Stewart have been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs, and will be practicing with the Habs tomorrow at the Bell Centre. D’Agostini has 47 points in 70 games with the Bulldogs this season, and racking up 32 penalty minutes.

Stewart only has 17 points in 69 games this season, but has amassed a team leading 137 penalty minutes, with a -8.

Both players will most likely play in at least one of the next two games, with the latter (Stewart), most likely playing a very tough role, that we’re missing with Komisarek out of the line up. This will be the first trip to Montreal for both youngsters, who will be looking to make a good impression.

Canadiens Sign James Wyman

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Bob Gainey announced today that the Canadiens have signed forward, right winger, James (J.T.) Wyman to a two-year contract and will report to the Hamilton Bulldogs March 20th, 2008. Wyman currently plays for Dartmouth College in the NCAA and was drafted 100th overall in the 2004 entry draft.

So far in the 2007-2008 season Wyman has notched 15 goals and 15 assists in 29 games, with 18 penalty minutes. From his stats this kid looks impressive, and the Bulldogs definitely need an offensive boost going 3-7 in their last ten games, with a six game losing streak.
