The Canadiens look to extend their winning streak to a season high, five games, as they head to Ottawa to face the Senators.

The Senators are without Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza as both are out with injury, but with guys like Mike Fisher and Chris Neil in the lineup we shouldn’t take them easily.

It’s hard not to think that Jaroslav Halak will get his fifth straight start as he already has the first four wins in this seven game road trip. Halak is a career 3-3 against the Sens including one earlier this year where he allow just one goal in 46 shots.

I had made a Montreal Canadiens screensaver a while back but have since lost it so I decided that I was going to attempt and recreate it. This one is a little bit different than the original version in that it just has the Montreal Canadiens logo flash around the screen on a 5 second time interval and doesn’t actually have the logo moving. You can see a video of how it works below.

Disclaimer: I simply created this from the Montreal Canadiens logo and am not responsible for installing it for you or operating it once it’s installed. There NO SPYWARE contained within the installation file, it simply installs the screensaver, nothing more. I can only guarantee this when downloading the screensaver from my site, so if you find it elsewhere and it contains spyware/adware/malware, then it’s not my problem.

I hope you enjoy this and if you have any suggestions please let me know.

1. Download the screensaver using the file above.
2. Unzip the montreal_canadiens_screensaver.exe from the .zip file.
3. Run the montreal_canadiens_screensaver.exe file and follow the onscreen instructions. That’s it!

Carey Price seems to enjoy dressing for the occasion, wouldn’t you agree? In preperation for the centennial celebrations Carey Price has had a centennial mask created by David Arrigo.

The mask dawns six of the great goaltenders in Canadiens history and the six goaltenders currently in the Hall of Fame. The left side of the mask you will see Georges Vezina, Patrick Roy and George Hainsworth. On the right you have Bill Durnan, Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante.

On the back of th mask he has every year that the Montreal Canadiens have won the stanley cup and a shoutout to the Carlson Kolzig Foundation which he strongly supports.

TSN’s sister station in Quebec RDS reports that Montreal Canadiens first-round pick Louis Leblanc will be on the 36-player selection roster for the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Leblanc was taken with the 18th overall pick in the NHL draft in June.

In nine games with Harvard this season, the Montreal native has three goals and 12 points in eight games. Leblanc opted to skip major junior hockey and played last season in the U.S. Hockey League with Omaha, where he had 28 goals and 39 assists.

The six-foot, 178-pound forward, who grew up in the Montreal suburb of Kirkland, helped Canada’s under-18 team win gold at last summer’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in the Czech Republic.

Canada’s selection camp for the World Juniors begins on Dec. 12.

To many peoples delights, I’m sure, it seems that Carey Price has finally found his edge and has been playing much more consistantly these days than at the beginning of the season where he went on a six game losing streak and temporarily losing his starting position to Jaroslav Halak.

This time last year Carey Price was rolling on a .921 save percentage with one shutout and was averaging 2.3 goals against per game. As of right now, Price is hanging on to a .909 save percentage with zero shutouts and is averaging 2.78 goals against per game, playing one more game this year then he did to get those numbers last year.

The bright side in all of this? Well, it’s hard to see, but in his first 8 games of the season Price had a measly .878 save percentage with just two wins. In his last 8 games of the season Pricey has flaunted a .921 save percentage with just one game recording a saver percentage of under .900. This is a really good sign, not only for Price, but for the Canadiens as well. With our top defenseman out until, at the earliest, the end of December/first of February, goaltending needs to be close to perfect.

Confidence is the name of the game for a goalie, especially a 21-year-old goalie who’s just in his third year in the league on one of the most prolific teams in the NHL. We’ve seen the attitude that makes Price a good goalie. We’ve seen that attitude in the shootout win against Boston. We’ve seen that attitude when Price slides nonchalantly from side to side to make a save on Ovechkin.

Price is actually on pace to have his best year yet and believe it or not, it’s actually very feasible for Price to last long enough to break current goaltending records in wins (if Brodeur retires soon that is).

For all of the shit criticism that Price has had to deal with over the last year it amazes me how well he’s handling it. He was pegged as the saviour even before he was dawning the bleu, blanc et rouge and from my standpoint hasn’t dissappointed. He’s come up big on multiple occassions and if we can get our defenseman healthy (ala. Markov) then the sky is the limit.
