Wow, if any of you saw this, you probably saw a complete breakdown by the Americans in almost every aspect of the game. I was watching and couldn’t believe some of the give aways and bad decisions by the US team, but you really need to give a lot of credit to the Slovak netminder, Jaroslav Janus, who was phenominal from start to finish.
Ryan McDonagh and Danny Kristo had a very plain game, but McDonagh made some incredible plays to prevent goals and was an even in plus/minus on this one. Danny Kristo had a couple of shots and showed a lot of flash and speed but finished with -1. The U.S. will now play the loser of the Russia/Czech Republic game for 5th place. You can watch this January 4th.
For the tournament thus far, Ryan McDonagh is a +4 with 2 Assists and 2 Penalty minutes, he’s provided some amazing defense for a team that was slated to medal indefinitely.
Danny Kristo on the other hand played on U.S.’s fourth line and notched 1 goal in 5 games and has a +2 plus/minus. Kristo is shooting at a 25.0% shot percentage which means that every 1 in 4 shots he’s scoring, but at the same time, that only means he’s had 4 shots the entire tournament.
